What hairstyle will suit you best for your wedding day?

May 7th, 2019

When I am talking to my brides about their ideas for their bridal look, I always hear the same statement. “I have no clue what to do with my hair. What would you recommend?”

There are many factors to think about when deciding on what type of style would be best for you and in this post I am going to help you narrow down your choices so that you can make sure you have made the best overall decision.

Firstly is what does your dress look like?! Is it strapless or does it have sleeves? Is it more glamorous or boho? What kind of neckline does it have? If your frock is more on the boho side you definitely want to be looking at more relaxed or tousled styles to compliment your style of dress. If it is more on the glamorous side then you want to be looking for looks that are considered more classic or demur.

Consider the neckline of your dress, if it is strapless and you are feeling like you want to not draw a lot of attention to your shoulders or neckline then I would refer you to look at more half up half down styles so that your hair will help cover any spots you may feel self conscious about. On the other hand if you have beautiful details in straps or a exquisite back to your gown then up is the way to go! Show that beauty off!!

The next thing you’ll want to consider is your hair! Is it short or long? Thicker or thinner? Curly or naturally straight as a board? After you’ve narrowed down some looks based on your dress you need to think of what you’re working with! If you have short hair you’ll need to decide if you need to get extensions or rock your hair as is... if it’s thinner you’ll also need to decide whether or not to get extensions or to do an updo instead.

Also are you wearing a veil or hair jewels? When it was my time to be a bride all i wanted was to wear my hair up in a beautiful intricate updo,  but after viewing my bridal portraits, I quickly realized that my absolutely stunning updo was hidden by tulle. That was the end of my updo dreams and switched to a half up half down wavy style that you could actually see with my veil.  Also do you plan on wearing any hair jewels at all? If not you may want to consider adding a braid into your hairstyle. By adding a little interest you will be separating your everyday hairstyle from you bridal day hair.

No matter what the style you decide on for your big day always remember that you are what makes the style beautiful and special!
